Diebu -Langmusi, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu:

Yunduo’er freezes the memory of a few ears of Qingke, highland barley, in her wristwatch, ones which she’s plucked from a field of the crop halfway, roughly 2km, along G345 from our homestay hostel to downtown Diebu. A meagre noodles breakfast at a roadside eatery is followed by a stroll on the bank of Bailongjiang, which has been meandering with us all the way from Longnan to Diebu. Now in front of us is its wide riverbed embracing pale muddy flats and water splitting into slender threads that wind along the valley floor, scanned by pine-cloaked hillsides and dwellings of Tibetan style lining the valley beneath an azure sky dotted with drifting clouds. Crimson paths in the waterfront park lead Yunduo’er onto a quiet exploration of the greenery and the dainty lovely ponds strewn with verdant lily pads.

沿G345国道自民宿往迭部城区行至半途约两公里，云朵儿摘青稞，举腕用手表拍下穗影，封存田畴一瞬清光。迭部城区道旁小店简食面条早餐，来到白龙江岸，那江水自陇南起迤逦一路伴随我们淌至迭部。目下河床阔旷，浅滩断续，流水分缕，盘绕谷底。苍松覆坡，藏屋依山而列，长空澄澈，云影悠然。水岸公园朱红小径带云朵儿穿行草木，旁见小池水面浮布青翠莲叶。

The continued northwestern venture brings Yunduo’er the coveted chance to savor the moment on horseback. The Tibetan herdswoman trails behind, seemingly on edge, after she releases the reins, as Yunduo’er hopes, since, as she says, she must ensure safety. Twice she lets go of the reins for but a very brief spell and hastens to reclaim the command of the steed. Stone picking by a brook adds extra luster to Yunduo’er’s fun on the midway pasture.

继续向西北，途中云朵儿得偿马背之趣。云朵儿不想马被人牵，于是藏族牧女两次松开缰绳，紧随马后，神色有些紧张，一心护云朵儿周全，未几便快步上前抓住缰绳。云朵儿溪畔捡拾卵石，缀云朵儿途间草场意趣。

As we’re moseying through the town of Langmusi I catch some fleeting glimpses of the roadside hotel where I stayed overnight during my drive as a loner to Xinjing 8 years ago. But we pick a hostel whose windows provide a good vista of the jumble of golden roofs of that famous temple. A wander after a hearty Tibetan meal in a typical Tibetan setting at the hostel yields something unexpected: the town of Langmusi straddles the common borders of Gansu and Sichuan, a message which a local business owner in front of a pharmacy is trying to drive home to spontaneous passers-by: “On this side is Gansu, and on the other, Sichuan.”

抵郎木寺镇，倏然瞥见8年前独往新疆过甘南时住过的酒店。此次另择一间民宿，窗外远见梵宇层叠金顶。酒店藏式餐厅饱食藏餐后逛市井，撞见新鲜事：郎木寺镇跨甘川两省，一药店旁，一民宿老板不断对路人重复：这边是甘肃，那边是四川。
